Kathleen Werner is a Manhattan based fine artist currently working on her “Geotic” series of paintings. These large scale Geotic paintings are inspired by nature itself and appear reminiscent of LandSat images, slicing open a geode, or even peering into the depths of outer space. Her vision for these paintings comes from extensive amounts of travel, looking down at the beauty of the earth from above and the serenity it invokes. The thoughtful creation of these new worlds and aerial scapes come after perfecting her technique over many years, and she is pleased to finally be releasing the first incantations of the series. Kathleen has spent her life as an entrepreneur and designer, during her time at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture she conceptualized the modern sculpture “Etazin”, a large circular outdoor lounge chair which is now on permanent installation at the school.  Kathleen believes it is vital to draw attention to significant initiatives through art and donates a portion of all proceeds to foundations that encourage action on a number of important issues, including the support and education of young women both locally and globally.

Part swivel chair, part hammock, this gyroscope-recalling outdoor lounge chair lets users rotate to get the best view, like a desert sunset, or even to avoid intense sunshine altogether. The chair, called Etazin, is made of three solid steel rings. The outermost ring is stationary, creating a framework so the two inner rings can spin. A curved, padded lounge chair sits on the innermost ring. The piece is now part of a new permanent installation at Taliesin West, the main campus of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture in Arizona. “It is meant as an elaborate piece of outdoor lounge furniture, though it really looks like a sculpture when not in use,” says [Kathleen Werner], the interior designer who dreamed up and fabricated the chair."
